New Sculpture update
My most current work is further development of my water series and the organic forms I would prevalent in my 2D work. I wanted to make this feel like a drawing more than a sculpture. I think I accomplished it. It’s a flat 2 dimensional front, but the audience can travel around the piece and experience the 3D aspect. I used the last of my homemade clay and have been forced to use regular commercial clay. I have been unable to get to the spot where I collect my clay from the creek bed since timbering of the area has destroyed pathways and trails to the stream. The texture of this clay is smoother and easier to work with than my home-made claybut I miss being immersed in the process of gathering and processing my own clay. The color pattern choice reminds me of a giraffe, but it’s supposed to represent drops of water rushing too fast against rocks and dissolving into little water droplets.
